Vinica

Vinica Municipality is placed in the eastern part of Macedonia.

The wider part of the municipality lies in the south-eastern part of Vinica-Kocani ravine, catching the downhils of Obozna, Golak and Plackovica mountains. It’s also settled in the middle course of Bregalnica river, so the location is favourable for the local people, particularly because the municipality is located between 360 and 1.754 metres over sea level.

The roads infrastructure in the area is pretty good, so Vinica is well connected to the surrounding cities, and its distance from Skopje is not more than 130 km.

There are certain proofs that the tribe of Pajons lived on this territory, 10 – 12 centuries BC, often fighting against Persian invaders, those people were high-skilled in making arms and equipment. The Romans came here in 146 BC, and from that moment Pajons “disappeared” somehow, probably mixed with the Romans. Slavs and Turks made the other seal on this area, so Vinica hasn’t got anything different than the other area cities.

Some bloom came after the WW-2 by establishing several small factories in the field of furniture production, textile industry and production of nice flowers, as well. Otherwise the people are quite busy in the rice fields around, the landmark of this region.
